Mexi Spice Taco Seasoning
Love taco seasoning? Looking to DIY your own healthier version? We were too. We’ve never been a fan of pre-packaged taco seasoning mixes. They often contain nasty ingredients like MSG, anti-caking agents, sugar, or waaaay too much sodium. So we had to DIY our own.
Living in Mexico we’ve really grown to appreciate the explosion of flavors from using fresh spices. So we love making our own “Mexi-spice” seasoning. Initially, we tried a few different recipes for taco seasoning. Then we mixed and matched different ingredients until we came up with a seasoning mix we LOVE.
Ingredients include several different types of peppers, cumin, garlic, onion, and a surprise ingredient you might not think to use in Mexican food, cinnamon! You can learn more about the healing properties of spices in this wonderful book, Healing Spices: How to Use 50 Everyday and Exotic Spices to Boost Health and Beat Disease.
